In response to the Department for Education’s Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy, Punnetts Town Primary School has developed a Climate Action Plan. This plan has been created collaboratively by staff and our Eco Council to help us reflect on our current practices and identify ways to further improve how we respond to climate change as a school community.
At Punnetts Town, our Eco Council is proudly pupil-led. The group meets regularly, and sustainability is embedded across the school through weekly outdoor learning and Forest School sessions for all year groups. Pupils also enjoy taking part in gardening activities, growing food and flowers in our school garden. Our Eco Council members are enthusiastic and passionate, and they actively share their growing knowledge of sustainability, encouraging the whole school community to make positive choices.
We are committed to equipping our pupils with the understanding, skills and values needed to make a positive difference in the world. Our core values—Respect, Love and Care, Curiosity, Friendship, Resilience and Enjoyment—underpin our approach, helping us to create an environment that is both supportive and environmentally responsible.
Through our regular outdoor learning experiences, pupils develop a deeper understanding of the natural world, the importance of caring for it, and how they can contribute to its sustainability. We also recognise the significant benefits that learning outdoors brings to children’s mental health and wellbeing.
Our Climate Action Plan, which can be found below, supports the work of the Eco Council and helps to guide our ongoing efforts as we continue to develop a more sustainable future for our school.
